Terms & Conditions

These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the GiveScan platform, including all pages hosted at GiveScan.org, all ambassador profiles, QR-code donation pages, and any related tools, services, or communication channels. By accessing or using GiveScan, you agree to these Terms. If you disagree, do not use the platform.

1. Purpose of GiveScan

GiveScan is a transparent, mobile-first donation system that enables donors to support verified individuals via QR code–powered pages. GiveScan works with nonprofit partners to publish verified needs, including food, shelter, transportation, IDs, work supplies, and other essentials. Donations routed through GiveScan go directly to the nonprofit partner administering the individual’s support.

GiveScan does not provide cash directly to individuals. All support is delivered through nonprofit oversight.

2. Nonprofit Partnership Structure

GiveScan operates in partnership with verified nonprofit organizations, including Hope On A Budget (HOAB) and others added in the future.

All donations made through GiveScan are processed by the nonprofit partner responsible for program administration and compliance.

GiveScan is a technology provider and does not issue tax receipts. Tax receipts are provided solely by the nonprofit receiving the donation.

3. Donation Processing

All donations are processed securely through third-party payment processors (such as Stripe, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or donor management partners including Donorbox).

By donating through GiveScan, you authorize the selected processor to charge your chosen payment method.

Processing fees may apply. The payment processor, not GiveScan, controls these fees.

Donations are non-refundable except when required by law or at the nonprofit partner's discretion.

4. Verified Needs & Impact Transparency

Each ambassador page displays verified needs curated by the nonprofit partner. These needs represent real, essential items requested or confirmed by case managers.

Examples include:

• state IDs
• food and hygiene items
• bus passes
• clothing

• work boots

• temporary shelter

• medical or support services

Amounts displayed represent the nonprofit’s estimated cost to fulfill the need. Actual expenses may vary. Any surplus funds are redirected to the same individual’s next verified need or to the nonprofit’s general mission to support similar individuals.

5. Ambassador Program

GiveScan may feature ambassador profiles, QR badges, or partner-led fundraising pages.

Ambassadors do not collect money. They simply share a digital profile linking donors to a nonprofit-verified page.

All funds go to the nonprofit that supports the individual displayed.

By participating as an ambassador, you agree not to misrepresent your affiliation with GiveScan or any nonprofit partner.

6. User Conduct

You agree not to:

• misuse the platform
• interfere with QR codes or ambassador pages
• attempt to access data you are not authorized to view
• submit false information

• reverse-engineer or disrupt GiveScan systems

GiveScan may suspend or block any user who violates these terms.

7. Data & Privacy

GiveScan collects limited data necessary to operate donation functions, analyze usage, and maintain security.

GiveScan does not sell personal data.

All data handling practices are detailed in the Privacy Policy.

8. Intellectual Property

All GiveScan branding, logos, text, images, systems, and page layouts are the property of GiveScan or its licensors.

You may not copy, reproduce or distribute platform materials without written permission.

9. Platform Availability

GiveScan may update, modify, or temporarily suspend portions of the platform for maintenance, upgrades, or technical reasons.

GiveScan is not liable for any downtime or data loss caused by external service providers.

10. Disclaimers

GiveScan is a technology platform, not a financial institution, lender, or government agency.

We do not guarantee outcomes for individuals featured on the platform.

We do not guarantee tax-deductible status for any donation unless explicitly stated by the nonprofit partner.

Nonprofit partners provide all information on ambassador pages and may change as needs evolve.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, GiveScan is not liable for:

• donation processing errors by third-party payment providers

• actions or omissions of nonprofit partners

• inaccurate or outdated information about needs

indirect or consequential damages arising from platform use

Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the platform is to stop using it.

12. Changes to Terms

GiveScan may update these Terms at any time.


Changes take effect upon posting.

Your continued use of the platform constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
